The project partners are also eager to spread the word about ironHand with other professionals in the field. An impression of events visited by ironHand team members is presented below.

ironHand demonstrated for Swedish Stroke Association

The ironHand system was demonstrated for the Swedish Stroke Association in Eskilstuna on the 6th of March 2017. About 40 interested people were gathered and got the opportunity to hear about the ongoing ironHand project. Participants had the opportunity to try out the soft-robotic ironHand glove and those who did were surprised and excited about the extra grip received from the ironHand glove! They also got a demonstration of the therapeutic ironHand system to train hand function in a motivating game-like environment.

A steady grip of love from whife to husband.

ironHand participated in the Dutch eHealthweek 2017

From 21st to 27th of January 2017, the Dutch eHealthweek took place, with e-health related events throughout the country. The Dutch eHealthweek was a good possibility to bring the ironHand system to a broad audience in an open event. Interested people could try the ironHand at NFE (on January 25) and RRD (on January 23). Besides attendance from the general public, a specific invitation was sent out to people who had expressed a personal interest into the ironHand concept after its appearance in the media, but who couldn’t be included in the scheduled user trials. Of this particular interest group, 40 persons, along with their families, came to Utrecht or Enschede to try out the assistive or therapeutic ironHand glove and have their questions answered. Additionally, both events were visited by a camera team (RTV Oost in Enschede and one camera team of the organization of the eHealthweek in Utrecht). Some material of the ironHand was used in the compilation video of the E-Health week.

Topic of this afternoon was ‘Patient included Innovation’, so we were happy that we could bring two of our test-users to present the ironHand together. And, the 83-years-old ladies did great! Together with end-user organization NFE, they told the audience (containing of about 150 persons with both creative and medical background) about how to involve end-users in a development process, how they experienced the sessions as test-participants and how to translate the preferences of the aimed end-users into a working prototype.
An impression of the afternoon is given in this short (Dutch) movie: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tY-HHBqZ1uY

A (Dutch) report about the afternoon was distributed among visitors and other interested persons: www.zorgvoorinnoveren.nl/nieuws/detail/betrek-eindgebruiker-vroeg-en-vaak-bij-je-innovatie/
