Broadcasting ironHand iTV United Kingdom February 2017

On 17 February 2017, the ironHand system was part of a broadcasting item, at iTV news (UK), about technological ideas designed to allow older people to live by themselves, for longer. iTV is one of the biggest commercial broadcaster in the UK. In this item, stroke patient Ina shows the soft-robotic ironHand glove and tells how the ironHand glove can help her in daily life.


Visit of Queen Máxima at Roessingh Research and Development (RRD) in November 2016

On November 22, Queen Máxima of the Netherlands visited RRD. During her visit, members of the ironHand project showcased the soft-robotic ironHand glove (which she also tried for herself!), including the therapeutic training exercises to train hand function in a motivating game-like environment. This didn’t only result in special attention for ironHand from the Queen herself, but also in a lot of press coverage from a wide variety of regional and national media. Broadcasting ironHand on Dutch National TV October 2016

On 4 October 2016, an incredible amount of 1.08 million people saw the broadcasting item about the ironHand system on the Dutch National TV (, NPO1). Stroke patient John and rehabilitation physician Prof. Dr. Rietman showed both aspects of the ironHand system; (1) receiving extra handgrip strength while performing daily activities and (2) performing hand training exercises in a motivating game-like environment.


Broadcasting ironHand Switzerland July 2016

On July 28, a reporter from tv station Tele Top in Switzerland, made an item about the ironHand project with Margrit Völki, 82 years old participant in the ironHand therapeutic study and Thomas Meyer, head of science at terzStiftung. Mrs. Völki shows how the soft-robotic ironHand glove is tested as assistive aid at home.

Broadcasting ironHand on Dutch National TV February 2016

On 1 February 2016, the programme Bright TV (channel RTL Z) made an TV item about the possibilities and the effect of the soft-robotic ironHand glove in response to the Dutch press release in January 2016. Project coordinator Gerdienke Prange-Lasonder was interviewed about the ironHand project and about how the ironHand glove works. In total, 28.000 people saw this broadcasting item of the ironHand project. (from 19:00)


Broadcasting ironHand on Dutch National TV January 2016

After the Dutch press release in January 2016, the Dutch TV programme ‘Hallo Nederland’ (channel NPO1) showcased the assistive soft-robotic ironHand glove with an old participant of the ironHand orthotic study, Gerda Valk. She experiences reduced grip strength while performing daily activities and told about her positive experiences with the soft-robotic ironHand glove.
